Definition of Class
- Under general supervision, responsible for all the duties of the civil records clerk as well as demonstrating a greater level of experience and being primarily responsible for performing tasks of greater complexity including the following: docketing, indexing, scanning, processing all civil court documents, and receipting & accounting for costs and fees, using the office computer system. Also responsible for processing executions, wage attachments, liens, judgments, training civil records clerks and handling telephone and counter transactions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Processes, dockets, indexes and scans all civil court documents using the office computer system. Receipts and accounts for all court costs and fees, using the office accounting system, backing up the duties of the bookkeeper, training civil records clerks and performing all related duties mandated by statute, court rules and court orders.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to deal effectively with the public, court personnel, attorneys and other government agencies. Ability to accurately enter data on the office computer system, including docket entries, indexing, receipting correct fees posted to cases, and scanning documents. An understanding of the court's rules of procedure, court orders, legal documents and statutory requirements. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to accurately process all civil court records with demonstrated skill commensurate with at least two years of experience in office work relating to the Civil Court system. Ability to train employees with less experience regarding duties of the office.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of Experience in Office Work relating to the Civil Court System
- Must be able to Type a Minimum of 50 Words Per Minute with Accuracy
