Definition of Class

  • This is a bargaining unit position subject to contractual bidding and trial periods. Under direction, this position requires the ability to operate various software applications and is highly responsible for clerical work of considerable difficulty. Performs backup mailroom duties, and does other work as required while interacting with other County employees and vendors efficiently and courteously.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Types technical correspondence, reports, records, invoices, and forms for County Facilities department. Compiles and assembles data for reports. Consolidates, classifies, checks, and files correspondence and office records. May write and answer correspondence. Design layout and format of forms and invoices. Prepares purchase requisitions, bill backs, and insurance claims. Prepares all account payables, and deposits account receivables for the County Facilities budget. Oversees Track-It maintenance work orders, follows up with department head and/or supervisor. Acts as a backup for processing mail in the mailroom. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong computer skills and thorough knowledge of effective clerical methods. Outstanding skills in performing office duties with thoroughness and accuracy. Ability to compile and assemble data for reports. Ability to deal successfully with the public and other County employees. Ability to operate several software programs simultaneously. Ability to make arithmetical computations with speed and accuracy, and to correct written English with facility and clarity. Knowledge of financial databases with particular reference to current version of FMS; ability to import files, and manipulate data to design reports; ability to create, maintain, and update database tables, forms, and records. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and of Erie County Government and its departmental structures. Requires fast pace and the ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of Clerical Experience
  • Advanced Working Knowledge of Database Management Systems
  • Advanced Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to Type a Minimum of 60 Words Per Minute with Accuracy
